Block Print - Felt Here

10.00

“Felt Here” block prints created in community workshops. These are made with print blocks I’ve cut and water based inks on 8.5 x 11 inch card stock. Various colors. The purchase of these prints supports the related public art project I am leading.

Felt Here is a pop-up workshop space that I am creating with partners on the Iron Range as part of the larger Overburden / Overlook public art and storytelling project, which looks at the past, present, and future of mining and economic development on / around Minnesota’s Iron Range. Felt Here is a community art and conversation space where we practice dyeing, felting, block printing, sewing, and other skills affiliated with traditional textile work, using mostly recycled materials. This workshop is led by myself and other women with roots on the Iron Range, and our primary materials are fabrics and other textiles I’ve gathered from the area, dyes and inks I’ve made using iron-rich earth that I’ve gathered from taconite mining sites, and imagery or phrases that emerge in the conversations we spark. It’s an evolving space and new things continue to emerge. Thank you for your support!
